Job description

About the role

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is responsible for transforming Greater Cambridge through a City Deal aimed at unlocking the economic growth potential of the area over the coming decades and realising thousands of new jobs and homes.

The development and delivery of major transport infrastructure is vital to the future economic wellbeing of Greater Cambridge. The GCP Transport programme is a cornerstone of the City Deal initiative and aims to develop a sustainable transport network for Greater Cambridge that keeps people, business and ideas connected as the area continues to grow.

What will you be doing?

This is a key role for the Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) as the Transport programme moves towards construction of Major Projects. The Commercial Manager will work across the GCP transport programme providing focused advice on commercial activities across the programme. This will include leading the procurement for major works as well as ongoing management of the contract. The Commercial Manager will be responsible for identifying and recruiting the resources required to manage the programme of up to £1billion.

About you

You will require an excellent understanding and experience of infrastructure delivery within a local authority or central Government context. Experience in construction procurement and management of NEC contracts will be essential in this role.

The Greater Cambridge Partnership offers flexible working arrangements which includes hybrid working, job share and part time or full-time agreements. Although the office for the Greater Cambridge Partnership will continue to be based in the city of Cambridge, we are flexible on location and working pattern, and actively encourage flexible working.

We’re proud to be an inclusive and equal opportunities employer, committed to hiring people based on attitude and merit, regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, sexual orientation, disability status or any other protected characteristic. We're committed to building a culturally diverse workforce and therefore encourage applications from groups that are underrepresented within the council.

Our website can be viewed at www.greatercambridge.org.uk.

Interviews will be taking place Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th March 2024 at Mandela House, Regent Street, Cambridge CB2 1BY
