As a Cybersecurity Intern in Embedded Systems, you will have the opportunity to develop, implement, and test OT cybersecurity solutions for Embedded Systems. You will gain valuable hands-on experience to get a critical jump start on a career in industrial research. Assignments include working side by side with experts in the field of Embedded Systems and cybersecurity, completing challenging technical projects, applying theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems, and developing skills in a cutting edge global industrial research environment. This program includes seminars on cross-center technology and soft skills development as well as opportunities for networking and showcasing project accomplishments. Roles and Responsibilities:
Work with industry leading experts to develop OT cybersecurity solutions for Embedded Systems
Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and others to advance the state-of-the-art in OT cybersecurity for Embedded Systems
Grow your network and develop communication and technical presentation skills to executive leaders at GE Research
Required Qualifications:
Current enrollment in a full-time Ph.D. degree program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
Strong background in software development for Embedded Systems
- Computer architecture
- Linux OS
- Network protocols, etc.Strong embedded programming skills
- C/C++
- Python, etc.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Desired Characteristics:
Excitement and enthusiasm for growing technical skills in cybersecurity for Embedded Systems
Experience in embedded Linux (e.g., Buildroot, Yocto), Linux security, and Linux driver/kernel development
Experience with incorporating hardware-based security techniques (e.g., HSM, TPM, ARM TrustZone, Secure Boot, etc.)
Experience with development of real-time Embedded Systems, microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors.
Effective presentation and technical communication skills; ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms
Strong dedication to a career in technology and a real passion for engineering and computer science
The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific weekly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
