GENERAL ASSISTANT
CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed Term- until end June 2025
CONTRACT DURATION: 2024/25 School Year (38 weeks which is 190 days)
STATUS: 27.5 hours per week, term time. Fewer hours may be available.
GRADE SCALE: NJC POINT 2. £22 366 per annum (pro rata based on weeks and hours worked).
INTERVIEW DATE: Interviews planned for Wednesday 11 June 2024
RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Principal (SENCO)
JOB PURPOSE:
Support During Class Time
The General Assistant will:
- Support the needs of the pupil e.g movement between classrooms (wheelchair user) and attend to personal needs
- Endeavour to encourage the pupil to be as independent as possible
- Aim to support the role of the teacher
- Take into account the pupil’s individual special needs and ensure their access to the lesson
- Ensure the pupil has understood instructions
- Help the child to develop organisational skills
- Try to encourage the integration of the child into the class
- Carry out such duties as may be reasonably required by the Principal

Essential Criteria
- 5 GCSE/O Levels or equivalent at Grades A*-C (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent
- Experience of working with children/vulnerable adults
Desirable Criteria
- Two years’ relevant experience working in a school setting
