Job description

An exciting position has arisen at the Swanbourne Estate in north Buckinghamshire. A keen and enthusiastic candidate is required to work within the team in the day-to-day running of this progressive farming estate.
The 1100ha Swanbourne Estate includes Swanbourne Home Farms, a 650ha mixed beef and arable farm, growing wheat beans and oats, along with stewardship scheme pastures and other environmental management schemes. The business is spread over 3 sets of farm buildings all around the village of Swanbourne. Our ideal candidate will immerse themselves in all aspects of farm work as well as involvement in the wider estate. You will have experience of both arable and livestock farming and operating a range of farm machinery. You will have a passion for farming, a desire to learn, to have a positive outlook and to be a dedicated team player.
Our team covers all farm tasks including cultivations, drilling, fertiliser spreading, spraying, combining, as well as a beef suckler herd and calf rearing unit.
Responsibilities
Your duties will focus mainly on the arable enterprise but also full involvement with the beef herd. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Spraying (Sands 24m sprayer) Relief drilling (including Avadex applications) Machinery maintenance Operating a modern continuous flow dryer during harvest Record keeping to Red Tractor standards Regular store monitoring Out loading of grain Fencing and hedge trimming Other tractor driving associated with arable and livestock farming Full support to the farm foreman and manager Requirements
The ideal person will have:
PA1 & PA2 spraying certificate Full clean drivers' licence Competent, experienced machinery operator An understanding of precision farming and diligent record keeping Good attention to detail Self-motivated approach, good use of own initiative and a sense of humour Experience of GPS and precision farming techniques beneficial At least 5 years of farming experience Be enthusiastic, willing to learn with a flexible 'can do' attitude Be hardworking, conscientious and take pride in your work Willing to take responsibility and ownership of your work and duties A good package is on offer, commensurate with experience, to include a rent free cottage on the Estate.
