About The Role
Delivering what we promise
Morrison Water Services are recruiting a General Manager to work on our United Utilities contract. This role will be area based, covering the North of England. You can be based anywhere within the operational region, spanning from Preston across to Manchester.
What will you be doing?
As General Manager reporting to the Capital Delivery Director, you will be responsible for the strategic development of the business and, where appropriate, the day-to-day running and leadership of the United Utilities Framework, to meet company goals and objectives.
The role can manage several functions, including SHEQ, Operations and Operational Work Planning, and is the key interface for client relationships and Business Development. Our business is built on our key values and behaviours, which the General Manager has ultimate responsibility for implementing and upholding on their given area of the business or framework.

You will, build, manage and enhance relationships, with strategic pursuit management for growth and opportunities with our existing client base. Where required, you’ll oversee the delivery of the contact / framework to the required standards.
You will be leading colleagues across a wide range of functions, supporting development, diversity and inclusion and championing employee engagement. You will ensure resource requirements are met for now and the future, investing in technical, behavioral and safety development.
You will be responsible for implementing and enabling the highest standards of safety compliance and drive a positive wellbeing culture throughout the whole framework. You will provide appropriate assurance and governance to the framework in respect of quality and implement corporate policies to meet carbon reduction and environmental improvements.
This role has overall accountability of delivery of all contractual and commercial KPI’s, quarterly and annual business plan targets. You will have responsibility for the development and implementation of improvement initiatives and committed inclusion with Morrison Water Services Innovation (AIM Model) and for adapting new ways of working to benefit colleagues and clients.

What do we need from you?
Are you educated to degree level in a Technical or Business discipline, or have a relevant management or professional qualification, including being part of an industry recognised body?
Are you experienced in the water industry? This would be preferred, but not essential.
Do you have a demonstrable high level of communication and negotiation skills, while effectively managing senior client stakeholders?
Are you experienced within utility contracting, or a similar environment?
Do you possess a high degree of commercial and strategic awareness?
Can you demonstrate that you are decisive and work effectively under pressure?
Are you confident in delegating tasks, while maintaining full oversight of all functions within the team?
Can you deal with conflict in a timely and equitable manner, by adopting tact and diplomacy in an assertive fashion?
