Operating for over 30 years, or client is the UK's leading floorcoverings distributor operating over 60 businesses and trade brands across the UK and Continental Europe.
They are currently looking to recruit a General Manager / Operations Manager to oversee their production facility in Kidderminster.
Looking after a team of 18 colleagues, the General Manager will have overall responsibility for the following:
- Overseeing the entire operations function to ensure customers receive high quality service
- Setting and delivering SLA's, as well as monthly reporting
- Assigning roles and duties to colleagues as required and ensuring the duties are carried out effectively and proficiently
- Providing day to day line management support to a team of colleagues, and being their point of contact for any queries or questions
- Supporting colleagues to ensure KPIs are met
- Identifying training needs and organising/delivering training as required.
- Recruitment, onboarding and succession planning
- Carrying out appraisals and one to one meetings with colleagues
- Implementing new policies, procedures, safe systems of work, etc.
- Ensuring site and all employees comply with company and UK Health & Safety regulations
- Continually identifying opportunities for improvement in areas such as people management, processes, and H&S
- Producing operational reports on an ad-hoc basis e.g. manufacturing lead times, and utilising the information to identify improvement opportunities
- Overseeing the maintenance of equipment & machinery
- Participating in management meetings/product launches as and when required
- Undertake loading and unloading of vehicles if/as required
- Organising rotas where necessary, ensuring the operation is sufficiently staffed at all times
- To ensure that all areas are covered and managing downtimes with machinery if not working/repairs taking place
- Co-ordinate stock takes, ensuring that stock is located correctly, complete stock reconciliation and escalate variances
- Working Closely with Sales (internally/externally)
- Evaluating production capacity and look at ways to improve and enhance the workflow and manufacturing process
- Working with Product, Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing for product launches
- Working with Marketing to support requirements for exhibitions, shows, PR activities etc.
- Hands on support where required and to cover absences
As General Manager, to be successful in this role you will require the following experience, skills and qualifications:
- Experience of utilising WMS
- Previous experience of working within warehouse environment & team management
- Worked within a Team environment
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office and WMS
- Strong Leadership, communication and Organisational skills
- Able to work well under pressure, prioritise workload to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail / accuracy
- Good numeracy and written skills
