- The successful candidate will collaborate with the class teachers, the SENCO, and outside organizations to promote exceptional educational delivery.
- The key to the job role will be developing relationships with young people and fostering an inclusive atmosphere for them.
- Working directly with the class teachers to help students reach their maximum potential by providing support, motivation, and encouragement.
- Create and maintain SEMH friendly classrooms and teaching areas.
- Offer assistance to children and young people within and outside of the classroom.
- Assist in leading group activities, supervising group projects, or helping to facilitate group discussions.
- During group activities, ensure that students stay on task, collaborate effectively, and resolve conflicts if they arise.
General Primary Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Candidates should possess prior experience as a General Primary Teaching Assistant or in an Education Practitioner capacity with Primary level students.
- A high level of confidence in managing behaviour within an educational environment, including the use of de-escalation techniques, is expected.
- Familiarity with and knowledge of supplementary needs such as SEMH is essential.
- The ability to swiftly establish positive relationships is highly valued.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are prerequisites.
- Holding an Enhanced DBS - Child or Child and Adult registered with the update service is required. Candidates without this can apply for a new one through GSL Education, with DBS sponsorship opportunities available.
