Job description

Job Title: Fundraising Manager – Churches, Schools & Community
Reporting to: Head of Church & Community Engagement – Anna Lloyd
Contract Type: Permanent, full time
Principal Location: London
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000

BACKGROUND:

Street Child is one of the fastest growing international children’s charities. It was founded in 2008 by Tom Dannatt, whose faith-inspired leadership has developed the charity from a small localised work with 100 children in Sierra Leone to an international NGO working in over 20 countries. This year it has reached the milestone of helping over a million children and was selected as The Times and Sunday Times international charity for their 2023 Christmas Appeal.

Street Child believes that every child should be safe, in school and learning. We pride ourselves on being an organisation which is willing to go to the world’s toughest places where others won’t. This includes active conflict zones, disaster-affected regions, remote hard-to-reach areas and economically fragile communities. Street Child focuses on helping vulnerable children by working with local expert partners to combine child protection services and education with livelihood support - addressing the social, economic and structural issues that underpin some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

THE ROLE:

Street Child’s Central Fundraising team is looking for someone to directly support the growth and development of our UK church, schools and community engagement work, whilst co-managing an existing portfolio of donor relationships and income streams.

This is a broad role for an individual who will join a creative, passionate and energetic team to collaboratively serve to maximise income and fundraising opportunities for Street Child. With a particular focus on churches, schools, and community, this role will support our Head of Church and Community Engagement in communicating the work and vision of Street Child to a variety of audiences, ultimately seeking their support and partnership. We are looking for someone with excellent communication, leadership, fundraising and organisational skills, who is confident working in a variety of capacities and is passionate about the cause.

From big events and high profile galas, to personal donor relationship management and strategic networking with a growth and retention mindset, the Central Fundraising team are always seeking to consolidate existing relationships and share the vision and mission of our charity with new and interested parties and need to employ a range of skills to achieve this.

Church engagement: This is a relatively new area of focus for Street Child, and we are excited about significantly growing this reach and supporter base. Launched in March 2022 we have a new network of churches and Christian groups who support and champion our work. We are looking for someone to help us nurture these existing relationships whilst expanding this network through a diverse range of creative and engaging opportunities including (but not limited to): a presence at Christian festivals, bespoke events, media publications, creative communications and innovative fundraising ideas.

Schools work: Engaging UK school communities with the work of Street Child is a natural environment for us to operate and expand into given the nature of our work with children around the world. We have an existing network of schools who support and champion our work, and we want to strengthen and develop this area of fundraising and advocacy. We are looking for an individual who would be confident working across both the state and independent UK school sectors, liaising directly with school communities to advocate for Street Child, deliver age-appropriate assemblies, and support on the development and implementation of our school’s engagement programme and resources.

Community engagement: This area of fundraising is intentionally broad in it’s scope – the two aforementioned areas of school and church naturally lead to new and varied opportunities to engage different sectors of society with our work. These will include, but are not limited to: clubs and societies, university students, local business leaders, local and national event opportunities, and general public engagement opportunities such as radio, tv, and newspaper bulletins.
