Job Description


We are looking for experienced Geospatial Frontend Developer to join our Tech+ team!

Reporting to the Project Lead, you will work as part of a team responsible for development and maintenance of systems and tools for large-scale satellite data processing as well as supporting in wider GIS projects and tasks.

The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, be able to interact and work well with the direct team as well as across disciplines, possess a true passion for web geospatial technologies and geospatial visualisation tools, can work independently when required and is an innovative thinker who can take initiative and communicate well to solve problems and find the best solutions.

As an integral member of our Tech+ team, you will be surrounded by open and collaborative problem-solvers. You will play an important role in supporting the business in growing production and development across a wide range of satellite-derived value-add solutions

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement interactive data visualisation tools and web maps using open-source geospatial technologies for internal and external clients.
  • Work closely with back-end developers to integrate APIs and services related to geospatial data.
  • Design responsive user interfaces that are compatible with various devices and web browsers.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and geospatial developers to understand requirements and develop solutions.

Qualifications


Skills and Experiences:

  • Proven experience as a front-end developer with a focus on geospatial applications.
  • Proficient in developing frontend web applications such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES6, with expertise in deep optimization of end-user experience, stability & scalability, code modularity, and rendering latency.
  • Strong frontend engineering experience and deep understanding of the underlying design philosophy, implementation of common web frameworks, Internationalization, cross-browser compatibility, caching, performance optimization, semantic HTML, Accessibility, and Responsive Design.
  • Experience with geospatial mapping tools and libraries such as Mapbox, Leaflet, OpenLayers, MapLibre etc.
  • Familiarity of RESTful API design practices and Python micro-frameworks such as Flask and FastAPI.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, KML, Shapefile, COG).
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity working with geospatial server technologies, specifically GeoServer.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
  • Familiarity with cartographic rules and standards
