We are seeking an experienced Associate Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to join our team in Nottingham. Our workload is expanding rapidly, and we need to increase our team to meet the demands of our clients, especially in the transport infrastructure sector and the energy sector (carbon capture & storage, renewable energy, and low carbon engineering). About the role:
We are seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist with a strong technical background and an excellent track record in project management. The role involves mentoring junior staff, so effective communication skills are essential.
You will have a degree in civil engineering or engineering geology, as well as a postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical subject. Additionally, they should have proven project management and team management/mentorship experience post-chartership, either as an engineering geologist or civil engineer.
We are looking for individuals with the right skills and abilities to help us expand our infrastructure geotechnical design capability. You will join our rapidly expanding, flexible, and outward-looking team, which can handle work across various sectors and regional offices. The position will involve occasional travel to client sites, both within the UK and potentially internationally.
About you:
If you think this could be your next career move, we would love to hear from you. In order to succeed, we would envisage that you would be able to bring/demonstrate:
- Experience of leading Geotechnical Design Projects for large infrastructure projects.
- Extensive experience in the UK highways sector including National Highways Geotechnical Certification projects.
- A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally MSc or equivalent as a minimum).
- Demonstrable experience of managing projects and mentoring more junior team members in a consultancy or similar post-chartership (CEng or CGeol).
- Proven experience of acting in a senior role in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment and the ability to develop and lead geotechnical design teams.
- Project management - experience and understanding of the needs and approaches required by an expanding engineering consultancy and design marketplace, including developing client relationships, work and resource planning and commercial management.
- Proven geotechnical design experience.
- Competent in the use of leading geotechnical design software (GEO5, Oasys suite, GeoStudio, Rocscience, Plaxis 2D and 3D, etc.)
- Application of CDM Regulations in a design and ground investigation environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and confidence to liaise with clients.
- Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs.
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work (particular emphasis on preparation of Geotechnical Design Reports).
- A driving licence valid in the UK.
