Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Global Health Project Manager in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU), Department of Public Health and Primary Care.

The Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU), directed by Professor John Danesh, is an internationally recognised interdisciplinary group for the study of the causes and prevention of cardiovascular disease. It is part of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (DPHPC), one of Europe's leading academic departments of population health sciences.

CEU is guided by strong values, including commitments to scientific excellence, serving the public good, and creating a positive, nurturing and collaborative environment for research and capacity development.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual to project manage and coordinate our portfolio of Global Health studies, which aim to investigate risk factors for non-communicable diseases (e.g. cardiovascular and metabolic diseases) in South Asia. Our largest Global Health study is BELIEVE, which is a 74,000 participant cohort in Bangladesh to support training and applied health research in cardiovascular disease control. More information on https://www.capable-bangladesh.org/

The post holder will ensure that project tasks are identified, understood and delivered effectively and efficiently in a timely manner, with clarity about who is responsible and accountable for each task. The role-holder will lead on planning and monitoring project progress; anticipate and identify challenges and risks and where possible resolve these; develop and ensure implementation of good practice; draft, prepare and archive project documentation; prepare reports to a high standard; coordinate and record meetings with stakeholders; and support new applications for funding.

The role-holder will initially focus on the portfolio of Global Health research studies in South Asia, but could eventually support other CEU studies.

The post-holder will report to the CEU Director of Operations, and will work in an interdisciplinary team with colleagues in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care and several partner institutions in South Asia. The post-holder should ideally have a project management or coordinator background in research projects, an interest in Global Health research and experience in coordinating, implementing and evaluating large scale projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dynamic person to contribute to operational and coordinating aspects of an international Health Project.

We offer an excellent employment package that includes:

  • Pension schemes
  • Hybrid working through a blend of remote and office working
  • Family-friendly initiatives
  • Career development opportunities
  • Support for health & mental wellbeing
  • Generous holiday entitlement

The post will be located at the new Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Papworth Road, Trumpington, Cambridge CB2 0BB

Informal enquiries can be made to Ank Michielsen (am2710@medschl.cam.ac.uk)
