Global Product Manager - Medical Devices - Seating and Positioning

1) RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall responsibility for writing global strategic segment plans with global strategic marketing and sales objectives, including long term profitability, volumes (top-line growth) and therefore (new) product and acquisition proposals. Comparing existing commercial and operational capabilities with strategic plan and lay out the amount of necessary change to the executive team.

Responsibilities include global market analysis, product input, product and price positioning, business case development including the long-range volume, revenue and margin projections.

Life cycle management of products in portfolio as per strategic plan objectives and strategies and therefore guardian of product line proliferation.

Prioritisation of projects in coordination with the overall strategic plan. Input to the Innovation Board (SIB) and lead of project prioritization with segment supporting R&D group.

Directional input for Advanced R&D group for future product segment innovation plans.

Deliver project prioritization for PDP and VaVe development programs in line with overall segment strategy

Product specifications. Deliver with respective product management team the Product Scope and order form. Oversee global feature and option harmonization.

Lead and deliver product concept study and Business Plan in a qualitative and timely manner

Price positioning and minimum, “floor” pricing guidelines will be advised.

Lead continental segment product management associates who lead in project development teams the connect and business plan phase, the launch plan, that is worked out with the active and engaged input from Sales, Clinical team and Marketing

May lead in person or with his PM team product projects as the responsible project manager

May act in person or with his team as full-time member of product project team

Participate in the target costing process in product projects

Initiates and leads the execution of Discontinuation programs with operational, procurement and commercial team members. Thrives objective to minimize Stock Keeping Units (SKU) and overall product portfolio complexity down while providing a competitive product positioning to the market.

Responsible with his PM team thru the Academy (SMA) for product training

Leader of business and service bench marking in collaboration with technical benchmark of the R&D group.

Leading interpretation and final evaluation of Field-test results

Participating member on HARM and Risk analysis

Cost/profit management of existing product portfolio. Monitoring the performance constantly.

Responsible for market research activities

Guide/Support marketing in producing sales materials

2) JOB REQUIREMENTS

PROFILE / SKILL SET

Classical Product Manager with entrepreneurial spirit. Drive and sense of urgency. Feelsresponsible for her/his Global Product segment. Bottom line oriented and commitment to agreed goals and objectives. competitionknowledge and figures literate. Must be team player and leader.

Understands customer usage and demands for product performance by maintaining direct and regularly involved
Good communication skills to the sales force in terms of product specifications, product positioning and new product project forecast.

Is a Customer, Marketing and Sales Force support specialist. Supports marketing in developing successful sales approaches by advising new approaches or tools to achieve greater effect (revenue, market share and/or profit).


Sales Training; Can translate proven selling technique into comprehensive, yet effective, training programs.

PRODUCT SUPPORT “PRODUCT EXPERT”

Developing product content for effective product training aids
Recognized (both internally and externally) as the product and product segment expert. As such, would be expected to propose and/ or be consulted on any changes, updates, value improvements, pricing changes, line extensions, etc. Not to make the final decision, but to direct and be part of the decision.

Expected to anticipate in problems that might interfere with the continuous supply of a quality product to the customer.

This requires the ability to facilitate a complex matrix of functional business areas to resolve problems, cut costs, improve efficiencies or, in essence, do what is required to meet or exceed plan.
MARKET AWARNESS, IMAGE AND IMPACT "GLOBAL MARKET EXPERT”
Establish and maintain an accurate means to measure predict and quickly respond to changing customer requirements and satisfaction.

Expands market awareness to include full tracking of the Competition and long-term customer trends.

Understands why certain customers buy from the competition, understands the full- potential those customers represent and, most importantly, develops timely strategies to respond and capture realistic opportunities.
Customers. Understands global diagnosis and funding trends and translates those into product segment portfolio solutions.

Develops a process to review and respond to business gains and losses on a global as well as regional segmentation basis.

DEVELOPING, IMPLEMENTING AND MEETING ANNUAL PRODUCT PERFORMANCE GOALS

Operational strategies that achieve both sales and profit goals (Includes understanding P&L`s,


Developing pricing strategies, knowing where and how to cut costs without sacrificing product quality or business momentum


Able to create new product forecasting plans that accurately reflect unit and revenues. Plans


Should consider pricing, availability, sales force allocation, competitive strategies, marketing support resources, etc.


Able at managing, prioritising and explaining all the external Market Issues i.e.
customers, sales, products and markets to the SIB/SLT and Internal departments i.e. R&D,
Operations, Customer Service, Finance, etc. to achieve a consistent and successful business outcome.


Capable of designing an early warning/monitoring system that will point out key problem areas. Then, once identified, able to quickly assembly a "Smart Team“ of appropriate key experts that will collectively design the response strategy.Their methodologies and disciplines should not be limited to just a sales or marketing approach.

3) Global Product Segment reporting structure and relationship to organization

The Global Product Segment lead reports direct into the Global Product Executive

The Global Product Segment lead works in close collaboration with the core product segment functions of; Product Management, R&D, Marketing, Clinical teams and Regional Commercial leads.

The Global Segment leader has continental segment Product Managers in a direct reporting structure. These continental segment PMs carrying classic PM tasks like listed under 1) responsibilities and 2) job requirements in this document

R&D; The segment R&D group receives Product Road map direction and project prioritization from the Global Segment lead. He/she provides guidance to balance the R&D workload of PDP and VaVe programs. The Global Segment Lead ensures that all PDD and VaVe programs are in synchronization with the SIB and the Global Product Executive.

Global Marketing; The Global Segment Lead coordinates with the Segment Marketing Manager from the Global Marketing Group launch programs and marketing initiatives for the product segment.

The Global Product Segment Lead works in close collaboration with the Global marketing Executive to ensure alignment between Global Marketing strategy and Product Segment strategy.

Regional P&L Leaders; The Global Product segment Lead ensures that the P&L leads of North America, Central Europe, South West Europe, North West Europe & APAC are informed about the Global Product segment performance and ongoing initiatives for their regions.
