The GM Civic University Board
In September 2021, the five universities of Greater Manchester: the University of Bolton, Manchester Metropolitan University, Royal Northern College of Music, The University of Manchester and the University of Salford, in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), signed the first city-region Civic University Agreement.
Drawing on what people in Greater Manchester told us they valued about their universities, our Civic University Agreement exemplifies our commitment to collective action on six priority thematic areas:
- education and skills;
- reducing inequalities;
- jobs and growth;
- the digital economy;
- net zero;
- the creative and cultural economy.
Following the development of the Civic University Agreement in December 2021, the Civic University Board CUB was established. Made up of representatives from the five higher education institutions and Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the Board drives forward the collective civic work of the universities to realise the ambitions of the Agreement.
The board wishes to appoint an engagement and communications lead to project management, leading and connecting stakeholders and programmes across GM and the five universities to maximise the impact of the Civic University agreement.
