Golf at The Carnegie Club

• The Carnegie Links is at the very heart of the Club. An 18-hole Championship course on the shore of the Dornoch Firth, it offers players 6,903 yards of golfing genius.
• There are no tee times, so members are free to play as and when the mood takes them.
• With the majority of our members and guests enjoying a game during their stay, the golf team are front and centre of our day-to-day operation.
• The golf team is based at the Clubhouse, which is also home to the Skibo Shop and hosts lunch daily - plus dinners through the summer months - making it a real hub of activity.
• Our team ensure the smooth and efficient running of our golf service, from teaching and facilities maintenance to retail and event hosting.

About the role

• You’ll join us at an exciting time, with our new state-of-the-art teaching facility due to open in spring 2024.
• Based at the Clubhouse, you'll help to create a warm and welcoming environment for members and guests, getting to know them so you can pre-empt any wants, needs or requests they may have.
• Playing golf with our members and guests will be an active part of your day-to-day .
• You'll provide teaching services to those who wish to work on their game, making use of the Club's driving range and short game practice areas.
• You'll support your colleagues in the shop with a variety of retail tasks, including serving members and guests using the point of sale system, merchandising and displays, stock control, general cleaning and maintenance of the store.
• You'll give day visitors the very best experience during their time at the Club by carrying clubs, helping them get set up for their round, offering tips for the course and helping to deliver an amazing day of golf.
• You'll play a part in the Club's golf events, ensuring that they run to plan and provide members and guests with a fun and enjoyable experience.

Who we are looking for

• You're a PGA Professional, and have some experience of working in a golf environment.
• You're a confident, diligent individual who is passionate about providing the very best hospitality.
• A strong team player, you thrive on ensuring any requests are dealt with swiftly and to a high standard.
• You're happy dealing with guests face-to-face and take a pro-active approach to your work.
• A clear communicator, you have strong computer skills and are comfortable with general administration tasks. Ideally you will have worked with a POS system.
• You're dependable and can be relied upon to work unsupervised, as well as be the face of the club's golf operation.

About Gratuities and Service Charge

• Gratuities (tips) and service charge (an additional charge added to room rates and other services at the Club that is passed directly to staff) are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role.
• It is estimated that in 2024, full-time staff can expect to receive around £4,000 in addition to their annual salary.
