Goods Inward Stores Operative

Platform Resourcing are currently working in partnership with a manufacturing business based in Cardiff. This client requires a well experienced Goods Inward Stores Operative who has had experience of operating a forklift truck to join their team.

Previous experience within a Stores or Goods in role within a Manufacturing or Engineering based Warehousing environment. You will need a solid knowledge of the goods in process as well as experience of completing updates to internal systems and spreadsheets with goods received, maintaining accurate records as well as updating and logging all necessary paperwork. The successful candidate will help co-ordinate the Goods Inwards area to ensure accuracy of receipting, effective stock management and rotation and to provide a constant flow of goods to production line.

• Starting salary of between 11.87 per hour, plus 10% yearly bonus ( 2468, which will rise as salary increases year on year)
• Monday to Friday days - Shifts are (week 1) 6am - 2pm and (week 2) 10am - 6pm

Goods In/ StoresDuties and Responsibilities

• To ensure deliveries are offloaded safely in a timely manner
• Ensure Goods Inwards product and paperwork is handled in line with the company procedures.
• Ensuring all paperwork is booked in accurately and in a timely manner, reporting any shortages or quality queries to the supervisor and relevant buyer
• Communicate with haulers in relation to deliveries
• Loading when necessary (FG / materials / waste)
• Manage yard area to ensure all goods are stored in their correct location and for easy access. Also ensuring the yard is clear of debris
• Yard management is key - Allocating materials in their correct location and updating the system accurately in a timely manner
• Ensure all stock is rotated on a FIFO basis
• Provide weekly physical stock takes of materials and submit report to your supervisor, ensuring stock levels are always above minimum levels
• Provide support to the production team, ensuring correct materials are always available.
• Any other reasonable tasks assigned by your manager or Team Leader

Goods In/ StoresEssential Experience

• Previous experience in a Stores or Goods in role is essential - understanding the goods in process
• Forklift license OR experience of operating a Counterbalance and Reach forklift truck
• Computer use - ability to update internal systems, use of spreadsheets or trackers to log incoming inventory accurately and efficiently
• Use of emails, logging paperwork such as delivery notes
• Experience of stock control and warehouse administration
• Demonstrable track record of operating forklift trucks is preferable
• Strong communication skills, able to work as part of a team

Desirable:

• Use of SAP system
