Job description

Mediplacements are looking to recruit a Band 8A Governance and Regulatory Pharmacist for a locum position with our client in Plymouth.
The pay for this position is £35 - £40 per hour, and we are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for a minimum of a 3 month duration.
Job Purpose:
* This post holder will be responsible for promoting the safe use of medicines across the Trust alongside providing a high-quality patient focused clinical pharmacy service for patients within a defined clinical speciality.
* To work with the Associate Chief Pharmacist Governance and Medicines Safety Officer (MSO), Clinical Commissioning and Medicines Optimisation as the named Medicines Safety Officer (MSO) to promote the safe use of medicines across the organisation.
Tto improve medication safety and governance throughout UHP, acting as an expert in medicines administration and related error management as part of the pharmacy governance team
* Responsible for development of medicines policies and services and for proposing policy changes which impact beyond pharmacy to wider Trust wards or services.
* To contribute to Trust and local policies to support wider Trust medicines safety and governance objectives
* Support the Associate Chief Pharmacist Governance Associate Chief Pharmacist Governance and Pharmacy and Head of Pharmacy Governance, Operations & Improvement to assist in the management of medication incident reporting both in pharmacy and the wider organisation
* Investigate medication incidents, and work to improve the reporting and learning from these incidents.
* Be involved in quality improvement projects which aim to make medicine use safer and reduce medicine-related adverse events.
* Work as a clinical pharmacist providing a service to a defined cohort of patients alongside, helping to ensure the safety and efficacy of medication use.
* Support the Associate Chief Pharmacist Governance to promote the patient safety agenda across all clinical areas in the trust.
* To work with the Associate Chief Pharmacist Governance, Trust clinical and governance teams to develop relevant guidelines, protocols and PGDs.
* Undertake audits and engage with Quality Improvement and practice research projects.
* Support the Associate Chief Pharmacist Governance in the management of national patient safety alerts, medicines recalls and medicines shortage notices and clinical audits in line with national standards.
* To support the Medication Safety Officer (MSO) with education and training activities of all pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionls in the context of medication safety and governance.
* To deputise for the Medicines Saefty Office (MSO) in their absence if required
Successful candidates must hold an MPharm degree and be registered with the GPHC.
