Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £22,659 - £44,790 p.a.

Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

JobPurpose:
The Building Standards service is responsible for delivering a range of services related to statutory duties under the Building (Scotland) Act 2003; also, that of its verification role, ensuring the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and around buildings; to further the conservation of fuel and power; and further the achievement of sustainable development.

The post holder will be familiar with verification duties relating to compliance and reasonable inquiry and will contribute to the development of the Key Performance Outcomes.

Requirements

Graduate Applicants
Educated to degree level in an appropiate discipline, accredited by RICS, CIOB or other body related to construction and the built environment.
Membership of the RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional body.
Understanding of legislation and procedures relating to Building Standards.
Experience of working in Building Standards appropriate to the post applied for.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Highland to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
Graduate Apprentice
Candidates applying for the Graduate Apprentice post will require a minimum of 3 Highers at BCC or above (subjects; Maths, English and Physics or other science/technical subject are needed.
