Key attributes required:

  • Demonstrable experience and desire to work in real-time Embedded Software
  • Enjoy designing, developing and testing Embedded Software solutions and components
  • Can demonstrate knowledge in programming languages and frameworks (JAVA, C, C++, Python, or any other)
  • Ideally have some knowledge of Computing Platforms and Operating Systems
  • Have a basic understanding of embedded systems/hardware
  • Able to adapt and react to change
  • Organised and able to communicate clearly
  • Aware of Agile principles

Responsibilities:
You will:
  • Further develop your programming skills in C or C++
  • Actively participate within an embedded SW engineering team and contribute to the design, implementation and test phases of the Software Engineering lifecycle
  • Develop an understanding of the Thales Embedded Software Engineering process
  • Develop an understanding of the importance of Safety and Security in Thales products
  • Develop an understanding of how software interacts with target hardware and Operating Systems
  • Learn through use/training of the common Thales tools used for software development at each stage of the software lifecycle (e.g. Requirements Management, Arc42 for design, Visual Studio/MPLAB C++ for implementation, Klocwork for static analysis, Bullseye for test coverage, etc)
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering functions to co-engineer products
  • Understand the need to develop quality software adhering to timescale and budget
  • Have the opportunity to develop creative software solutions

YOUR CAREER AT THALES:
There is ample opportunity to develop your skills within Thales, developing as an engineer enabling longer term career progression towards senior technical roles (e.g. Software Architect or Technical Specialist) or managerial roles (Software Engineering Manager).
Training is provided through a mixture of mentoring, online and in-person courses. Thales actively encourages membership of professional organisations such as the IET, and will pay membership fees and support individuals to work towards Chartered status.
