Job description

Are you a recent graduate looking for your first role in Education? Perhaps you are considering a career in teaching but would like to 'test the waters' first, whilst being paid for your time, before you commit to this career path? Do you want to have a substantial, real-life impact on the lives of young people with complex needs and difficult backgrounds? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we would love to hear from you!

Team Educate are proud to represent a selection of Primary, Secondary, SEN and Alternative Provision settings in the Shirley area who are looking to appoint passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Specific Learning Difficulties both within the main classroom setting, and as part of 1-1 and small group interventions taking part outside of the class context.

The role of Teaching Assistant is tailor-made for individuals who possess a strong desire and heartfelt dedication to nurturing the potential of all learners within the classroom. Experience working with young people previously is beneficial for this role- ideally, you will have experience supporting pupils ranging from age 3 up to the age of 19 with varying needs and abilities, including SEND and behavioural difficulties. If you have a relevant qualification - even better!

We have a range of roles available depending on the level of commitment you are prepared to offer this new venture, including flexible, part-time and full-time positions. If you would like to discuss your requirements and the opportunities suitable for your individual circumstances, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The role of a Teaching Assistant:

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play an integral role in providing tailored support to pupils, ensuring they receive the finest education and the tools needed for personal growth. Collaborating closely with class teachers, you'll contribute to fostering a supportive teaching environment, allowing each pupil to thrive in their lessons. Your experience will mean that you can work closely with children with minimal supervision and will have the ability to take the lead in ensuring academic and behavioural development.

Successful Teaching Assistants will benefit from:

  • Opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • On hand help from our team of in-house teaching professionals.
  • Opportunities to secure long-term positions with our partner schools.
  • Direct classroom experience and the opportunity to put your skills to good use, leading to demonstrable impact for the students you work with.
  • Crucial experience of working within education that will offer you perspective on which career path to undertake.
  • Beneficial experience for Teacher Training applications and an opportunity to network with schools that offer ITT/Schools Direct training options.

Successful Teaching Assistants should have:

  • A degree in any subject
  • A proactive attitude coupled with a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Previous experience of working with/supporting the varying needs of young learners, ideally including those with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service or a willingness to pay for a new application.
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification such as 'Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools' would be beneficial.

We'll be keen to hear from aspiring Teaching Assistants who display the above attributes and a genuine desire to support the students in their care. We'd love to have a conversation with you and offer you more details about the positions we can offer and how we can support you in your career and your professional journey within education.

Submit your CV and we'll be sure to get in contact with you!
