Job description

The Grants Management Support Assistant is a full-time role (36 hours per week) and advertised at GBP21,416 per annum plus benefits, based in our Loughborough office. This is a 1-year fixed-term contract for university students completing a placement year as part of their degree, not a graduate position.

We are looking for driven, self-motivated and team-focused individuals to join our Corporate Services Directorate in the Grants Management Team. This opportunity will follow three years of welcoming student placements to Sport England and builds upon experience of our successful intern programmes.

Key dates:

  • Applications close: 24th March 2024
  • Interviews: 10th -12th April 2024
  • Placement dates: 2nd September 2024 - 31st August 2025

Role Purpose

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in:

  • Contributing to specific Grant Management projects
  • Contributing to the development of new funding programmes
  • Processing funding applications as part of the business support team
  • Supporting awardees and collecting / reporting on project progress
  • Specific duties can be tailored to the interests or studies of the student and could include work in the areas of audit, project compliance or fraud management.

We have an exciting year ahead as we continue to deliver the implementation plan 2022-25 for our strategy Uniting the Movement and engage in our business transformation.

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in your own project, which could be similar to:

  • Supporting the management, financial reconciliation and closure of Sport England's Lottery investments. You will collect, analyse and report information about the performance and status of investments made through Sport England's funding programmes.
  • Providing support to our simplified access to open funding project as it develops across the year.
  • Researching and reviewing how the customer interacts with Sport England. This could involve researching and analysing customer feedback and looking at other sectors/organisations known for outstanding customer service, with the aim of identifying best practice.
