Ground Staff (Full-Time)

Overview:

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Ground Staff team. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the parks and sporting grounds which are managed by the Melton Mowbray Town Estate.

Duties:

Preparing and maintaining the towns parks, gardens and outdoor sports facilities which are managed by the Town Estate. Maintaining the landscape and grounds, including the maintenance and preparation of grassed areas, border shrub care, pruning and tree work.

Working on all aspects of landscape maintenance of the Town Estates properties, including: mowing, cultivation and seeding, grading and planting trees and shrubs.

Apply chemicals in the operation of landscape maintenance here required.

Any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined, subject to the proviso that normally any changes of a permanent nature shall be incorporated into the Job Description in specific terms.

Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of him/herself and other persons who may be affected by his/her activities and where appropriate safeguarding the health and safety of all persons under his/her control and guidance in accordance within the provision of health and safety legislation.

Exercising proper care in handling, operating and safeguarding any equipment or appliances provided.

To support the delivery of an effective landscape service on designated sites

Accountable for personal health and safety and contribution towards the health and safety of all other site users.

Accountable for the care and storage of landscape chemicals, equipment and machinery used on site.

Education

NVQ Level 2 in Grounds Maintenance, City and Guilds Certificate in Grounds Maintenance or Equivalent Qualification

Basic Literacy and Numeracy   

Essential Experience

knowledge of Grounds Maintenance Techniques

Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment/machinery

Clean UK driving license

Desirable Experience

Ability to drive a tractor and trailer (3 tonne)

Machine maintenance

Pesticide licence

Chainsaw license

Personal

Personal reliability, flexibility and trustworthiness

Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
