Grounds Maintenance Operative - Cemetery

We are currently seeking a dedicated and physically fit individual to join our team as a Grounds Maintenance Operative at our Cemetery. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and appearance of the cemetery grounds, providing a respectful and well-maintained environment for visitors paying their respects to their loved ones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strimming and cutting grass around gravesites to maintain a neat and tidy appearance.
• General maintenance of cemetery grounds, including weeding, planting, and pruning as required.
• Ensuring pathways and access routes are clear and safe for visitors.
• Performing litter picking and waste removal duties as necessary.
• Assisting with other Grounds Maintenance tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of horticulture is advantageous but not essential.
• Similar experience - Essential
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Excellent physical fitness and stamina due to the nature of the work and ground conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Additional Information:

This position offers an hourly rate of £15.18. The role is based primarily at the Cemetery, and duties will involve regular interaction with visitors. Working hours may vary and could include weekends and public holidays as required.
