Job description

Location: Glasgow, with occasional travel required between customer and group sites. Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Mon to Fri. Salary range: Negotiable. Role overview: As the Group Supply Chain Manager, you'll oversee Supply Chain operations across three sites within our client’s group. Your pivotal role involves managing inner company purchasing, ensuring precise materials at the right specifications reach the designated sites. This includes stringent control over metal specs, quality checks, and Supply Chain management. Key Responsibilities: * Supply Chain Management: Providing direction, guidance, and support to Engineering, Scheduling, Commercial, Production & Quality Assurance departments. * MRB Oversight: Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of Material Review Board (MRB) processes. * Inventory and Stock Management: Efficiently managing stock and inventory to meet operational demands. * Buyer-Supplier Dynamics: Optimizing buyer-supplier dynamics within the complex Supply Chain for competitive product offerings. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating across all functions to achieve delivery and cost objectives, ensuring seamless operational alignment. * Leadership and Team Management: Providing strong leadership to the Supply Chain team, overseeing positions in purchasing, material planning, tool room, stores & logistics. Setting objectives, coaching, developing team members, and fostering continuous improvement. * Budget Management: Managing departmental and project budgets, including annual forecasts and capex. * Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies. * Inner-Company Purchasing Supervision: Overseeing inner-company purchasing across three separate sites, ensuring precise materials reach the right specifications at the correct locations. * Quality Control Implementation: Implementing rigorous control and quality checks for metal specs within the Supply Chain. * Team Management: Effectively managing a team of 13 staff members and logistics personnel, leveraging their skills to efficiently control Supply Chain operations across the entire group. * Industry Background: Ideal candidate from aerospace, engineering precision, automotive, or plastics backgrounds with comprehensive knowledge of site processes and reporting mechanisms. Key Skills & Attributes Required: * Technical Proficiency: Ability to understand and deliver technical and customer requirements effectively. * Relationship Building: Skill in establishing strong relationships with senior management, both locally and virtually, across our client's organization. * Strategic Linkages: Capability to create valuable connections that lead to insightful plans and solutions. * Adaptability: Self-awareness, resilience, openness to change, and a positive outlook. * Credibility and Relationship Enhancement: High technical credibility coupled with the capacity to strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers. * Focus and Target Orientation: Capability to stay focused, driven by targets, and composed under pressure while collaborating and motivating others positively. * Decisiveness: Confident and timely decision-making, adept at risk identification and problem-solving, escalating issues when necessary. * Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation abilities within a product development environment. * Experience in Tenders & Bid Administration: Previous exposure to tenders or bid administration is advantageous. * Technical Expertise: Knowledge or experience in aerospace, engineering precision, automotive, or plastics, aligning with the nature of the role. * Understanding of Site Processes: Deep understanding of site processes and reporting mechanisms. * Supply Chain Management Expertise: Demonstrated success in effectively managing and controlling Supply Chain operations. * Leadership Competence: Leadership skills essential for guiding and managing a diverse team effectively. * Organisational Aptitude: Strong organisational skills ensuring precise alignment of materials and specifications with site requirements. Qualifications and Experience * Educational Background: Holds a degree in Business or Supply Chain Management (SCM). * Professional Qualifications: While professional qualifications are preferred, substantial 'on-the-job' experience will be considered. * Extensive Experience: Essential to have over 15 years of Supply Chain experience within an industrial setting. Experience in the Defence or Aerospace sectors would be advantageous. * Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with Project Management and Continuous Improvement (CI) qualifications are preferred.
