Preston City Council’s Parks Service is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fil the role of Head Gardener who will supervise our grounds maintenance teams.
This job covers for all aspects of horticulture shrub pruning, plant care, grass cutting, bowling green and sports pitch maintenance.
A significant proportion of this work may be carried out in listed parks where attention to detail and a commitment to strive for the best practicable standard of maintenance will be required.
The role will also involve the supervision of a team of Gardeners who are carrying out this work with you therefore experience of leading a team, planning workload and supervising staff is required.
The applicant must be willing to learn and be able to work well unsupervised or in a team. Good communication and customer service skills are also important aspects of the role. The role will require working outdoors in all weather conditions. A full driving license will be an essential part of the post.
The standard working week is 37 hours however the weekly hours are based on a seasonal working pattern. Currently the hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm during the spring and summer and 7.30am to 3.15pm during Autumn and Winter.
