Job description

About us

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Because, we’re not just home to UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.

The role

We’re building an Adult Social Care system in Camden that’s based on relationships, love and what matters most to the people we support. Come and join us as the Head of ASC Neighbourhoods and help us make sure that these values guide the work we do to support people who draw down on care and support to live the lives that they want to live. Come and help us deepen what we’ve started!

The postholder will have responsibility for managing teams across the Adult Social Care Neighbourhoods Service including our 5 Neighbourhoods, the MASH, our Front Door and Hospital Discharge. They will also be responsible for overseeing the operational relationship with our local Mental Health Trust and providing Leadership to our seconded social workers. The role will be instrumental in driving innovative partnership working within Integrated Care Systems and will be a key contact within Adult Social Care for NHS and other partners.

This role is a key member of Camden’s Adult Social Care leadership team and will report directly to our Deputy DASS. You will be a senior member of the ASC leadership team, and you will be expected to play a system leadership role across Adult Social Care, the Council and our local placed based work on integration.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

About you

Our Adult Social Care Neighbourhoods Service has been severely impacted by the pandemic and we are seeing more people waiting for social care placing increased strain on individuals, families, communities and our own workforce. We also know that we need to do more to enable people who have historically struggled to access our services to be able to draw on the support they need; in particular we have work underway to create more effective and inclusive support for people experiencing multiple disadvantages and autistic adults.

Because of these challenges we are looking for someone with considerable operational leadership experience of service improvement and culture change. You will have led a range of services which are drawn upon by adults with complex needs, including assessment, support and safeguarding functions. You should hold a professional qualification in social work, occupational therapy or equivalent heath qualifications. You will have experience of leading impactful strategic change across a whole system, experience of managing services that operate within a strengths based model that achieves outcomes through early intervention and prevention and will have experience of working directly with residents to harness their expertise.

You will have strong management skills and be able to draw on recent experience of high quality supervision and using insight to improve quality.

You’ll be a committed and passionate professional with a wide range of experience in Adult Social Care with the skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, whilst also being able to bring rigour and constructive challenge to they way in which you work.
