The Opportunity
QBE Europe is recruiting for a Head of Business Continuity and Operational Resilience/Senior Business Continuity and Operational Resilience Manager to join a well-established risk and Resilience team in our London office. In the role you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of policies and frameworks for Business Continuity and operational resilience. You will champion practical resilience within the business by guiding change in projects by identifying and responding to impacts.
Your new role
Strategy & Planning
Participate in the annual planning of activities and objectives to ensure high quality results.
Interpret requirements into practical / pragmatic solutions for EO keeping the customer at the heart of the design.
Determine own work priorities and activities in line with agreed plans balancing conflicting demands to ensure the achievement of personal and team objectives.
Lead Business Continuity and operational resilience activities in line with the agreed strategy and approach, defining procedures and standards.
Drive continuous development of capability through assessment and improvement ensuring EO operating model is effective and good value.
General
Guide business functions around implementation of Business Continuity and operational resilience requirements.
Develop & deliver training and communications plans for including targeted training to senior management.
Review and maintain key data, MI and performance indicators monitoring compliance with requirements.
Develop a holistic view of Business units, in order to understand the impact of changes and factor this into future communications, problem solving and maintenance activities.
Engage and communicate effectively with internal customers at all levels, in order to enhance delivery, undertake challenge, drive continuous improvement and tailor approach to their requirements.
Technical performance:
Act as EO's subject matter expert regarding the frameworks and standards to provide effective guidance and advice.
Represent Operational Risk in business and IT change projects, including acquisitions, to identify potential risks and provide input which enables effective planning and action.
Provide input into ERM processes, such as scenario development, risk and issue management .
Actively undertake personal development to ensure up to date knowledge and skill relevant to each framework.
Manage the Business Continuity and operational resilience tools and liaise with software providers to resolve issues and implement system changes.
Coordinating crisis/incident handling.
People Development:
Acts as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, motivation, and collaboration with those engaged in the process.
Supports others in the team to assist in the achievement of their personal objectives and personal development.
About you
Experience with financial services, preferably commercial insurance and / or reinsurance.
Experience in a business facing role.
Proven experience of handling data and producing operational documentation in a structured, coherent, and efficient manner for various audiences
Proven ability to review, understand and interpret documents.
Proven experience of working effectively with all levels throughout the organisation
Sound experience of evidenced based control development and execution.
Experience of working in a flexible environment
Sound Business Continuity and Operational Resilience management experience.
Experience of working in a regulated environment & dealing with internal and external audits.
