This Head of Business Development role is a very exciting opportunity for someone who wants to join a not-for-profit organisation that has seen some fantastic growth in membership numbers over the past year. They are looking for someone to come and lead the team and drive new business growth, with a predominant focus on B2B sales.

The ideal person for the role would be someone who has an extensive and demonstrable Business Development background and experience managing a sales team to drive sales growth. You would also have some experience of working for a not-for-profit organisation in the past and be a strategic thinker who is creative and customer focused.

The main aim of this position is to implement Business Development strategies to penetrate new sectors of the market, increasing membership numbers and the number of corporate partners in order to achieve KPI’s.

The salary on offer for this role is £65,000-£70,000 dependant on experience. The company also offers a discretionary annual bonus on top of this and a great work life balance. This would be working one day a week from the office just outside of High Wycombe and 4 days from home. However the successful candidate will be a confident presenter and would be required to present at conferences and at key external events.

What will I be doing in the Head of Business Development role?

  • Provide strategic direction to the team of Business Development staff, working cross departmentally with other teams such as marketing and membership teams.
  • Building new business relationships across new sectors, driving international Business Development and the B2B strategy.
  • Monitoring and analysing data and performance and make recommendations based on this.
  • Charing round table discussions and setting up interest groups.
  • Deliver presentations and speeches to external organisations.
  • Identify and leverage sponsorship opportunities such as third-party events.
  • Building sector knowledge and understanding the needs of perspective Business Development organisations.
  • Contribute to the business strategy and annual business plans and budget.
  • Delivering on targets and ensuring return on investment.
  • Ensuring an effective sales process is in place.
  • Utilising the CRM system effectively.
  • Working cross departmentally when launching products or services.
  • Managing the team and ensuring the team are coached and supported with their work.
  • Implementing targets for the team and ensuring leads and opportunities are followed and converted.
  • Attending company conferences.

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Experience of managing Business Development team.
  • Sales experience including managing a pipeline.
  • Record of delivering income growth.
  • Understanding of the sales process.
  • Great relationship building skills.
  • Leadership and management skills.
