South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our award-winning joint senior leadership team as the Head of Capital Delivery & Infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to spearhead our joint Capital Delivery and growth ambitions, working on ground-breaking initiatives that will shape the future of our communities.

As Head of Capital Delivery & Infrastructure, you have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing and delivering our major projects, including a multi-million-pound freeport and an ambitious Capital Delivery programme. Your leadership will be vital in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and completion of these place-shaping initiatives. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders will be key in this role, as you will be essential to driving forward vital projects that will help us to achieve our strategic vision for sustainable growth and development.

You will oversee the management and delivery of Capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standard. You will lead a team of delivery professionals and foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to shape your team and support individual career progression and professional development. Importantly, you will develop and implement strategies to optimise infrastructure delivery, manage project risks, and ensure regulatory compliance.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will have extensive experience in Capital Delivery and infrastructure management, with a proven track record of leading large-scale projects. Strong leadership and management skills are essential, along with the ability to inspire and motivate your team. Your strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities will enable you to navigate complex challenges effectively. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are crucial, as you will be working with a diverse range of partners on a day-to-day basis. A deep understanding of Capital Delivery processes, infrastructure planning, and best practices is fundamental to this role.
