We are looking to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking individual
who is an outstanding classroom practitioner with the skills and experience to deliver first class teaching and outcomes for our pupils.

The successful candidate will promote and lead the teaching of Classics, monitoring and organising the teaching and learning of the subject within specialist taught year groups. They will act as a Form Tutor as required, and will also have the opportunity to teach some English alongside this role.

We benefit from being a through school, and therefore we encourage Heads of Department to create a positive and collaborative relationship with their Senior School counterpart to ensure a cohesive curriculum. Classics is currently taught to pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 at the Prep.

A willingness to be involved in all aspects of day-to-day life in a busy boarding prep school is
essential. All staff are involved in the close pastoral care of our pupils, and the role will
report directly to the Deputy Head Academic, and ultimately the Head.

Repton School, founded in 1557, is a leading co-educational School situated in the historic village of Repton. Five miles from Burton upon Trent and eight miles from Derby, Repton lies in the very centre of England. Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 it is a criminal offence for a person over 18 (e.g. teacher, matron, sports coach) to have a sexual relationship with a child under 18 where that person is in a position of trust in respect of that child, even if the relationship is consensual. This applies where the child is in full-time education and the person works in the same establishment as the child, even if s/he does not teach the child. Moreover, whatever the age of the pupil, a sexual relationship between an employee and a pupil will be considered an abuse of a position of trust and gross misconduct, likely to result in dismissal.
