This is the role

As a Head of Corporate Communications and Media it will be essential to lead and collaborate well, make good decisions, and use resources effectively to ensure the organisation thrives and is financially resilient. We are looking for someone who has a track record of developing and implementing an effective communications strategy. You will be capable of deploying consistent proactive communications internally to staff and to external stakeholders and the community to protect and enhance the reputation of the Council, ensuring trust and confidence in local services.

You will be required to use your extensive experience and expertise to provide guidance and expert advice to the Leader, Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team. Presence in the office is vital to embed positive relationships from the outset.  This is complimented by our hybrid working model.

You will need to be able to develop effective relationships and meaningful dialogue with residents, staff, elected members, partners and the media to better inform, engage and involve local people and communities.

You will be an experienced leader and someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and committed to inspire the Communications and Media team.  You will be capable of building excellent working relationships within the authority and with partners and communities. To be successful in this role you must be highly experienced in creating and delivering long-term communications strategies in a political, complex or contentiously changing environment.
