Job Title: Chief Risk and Compliance Officer MLRO - Financial Services
Base Location: London
Following the opening of a branch in London, a leading South Korean bank are looking to grow their UK presence with a Chief Risk and Compliance Officer/MLRO.

Using your exposure to Risk and Compliance, inclusive of the Money Laundering Risk and Reporting space, you will be looking to drive this international bank towards satisfying all legal and regulatory obligations relevant to the UK market.
This will involve supporting ensuring compliance including internal policy, risk appetite and all applicable regulatory and legal requirements. Ultimately this will lead to implementing an effective Risk and Compliance framework across the business.
What will you be ?
- As a key member of the Management Committee you will be reporting to the board, working across the business advising areas such as the Credit, Assets and Liabilities and Audit Committees. You will be chairing the Risk function.
- You will be responsible for risk management and regulatory affairs, leading internal compliance and working directly with the regulators.
- You will be designing the strategy, codes of conduct, reporting systems and frameworks for Risk and Compliance
- This will involve working closely with and implementing PRA and FCA regulations, while providing practical solutions to ensure compliance, training and understanding across all business functions.
- You will also be operating as MLRO in monitoring the day-to-day operation of the London branch AML policies and procedures. This will include reporting to the NCIS and owning the AML process and reporting.
What will you need to do it?
- You will be an experienced leader with clear and demonstrable exposure to Senior Risk and Compliance roles within Banking or Financial Services
- You should possess an excellent understanding of the UK corporate banking market and operating within and satisfying UK regulatory requirements.
- A demonstrable ability to build robust Risk Teams and Frameworks, championing Risk and MLRO
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in complex, changing environments to deliver value-added results.
- Exposure to collaborating with international teams in leading and coordinating deliverables across multiple geographical locations and lines of business.
Skills we would love to see:
- A basic understanding of Korean would be useful but not necessary.
