Do you want to be part of supporting the delivery of record volumes of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across London and the Thames Valley and Home Counties?  As part of the Thames Turnaround, the Capital Delivery portfolio is expected to more than double in size in the forthcoming regulatory period from April 2025.  We need to be able to hit the ground running from Day 1 to support the execution of projects for the benefit of our customers, communities, and the environment and improve operational performance and asset resilience. 
The Head ofContinuous Improvement and Capital Efficiency role is an exciting opportunity within our Capital Delivery Programme Management Office (PMO). Your role will ensure that a consistent and fit-for-purpose approach to the delivery and reporting of efficiency is applied across the Capital Delivery Portfolio.  The successful candidate will also play a vital role in the Thames Water Turnaround Plan, underpinned by our Continuous Improvement activities to increase capability and capacity within our internal and supply chain teams. 
What you will be doingas a Head of Continuous ImprovementandCapital Efficiency
  • Maintain a framework to identify and analyse efficiency opportunities and ensure alignment of efficiency initiatives across the TW Capital Programme and the infrastructure required to implement an efficiency benefit framework.
  • Engage fully with various stakeholders to maintain and implement the Capital Delivery Improvement Plan.
  • Explore opportunities across the business to collaborate and identify activities for improvement.
  • Align our Continuous Improvement activities with our targeted maturity to enhance capability within our teams and supply chain.
  • Provide training and awareness-building of the efficiency benefits framework across the Capital Delivery organisation, including the supply chain, and with key internal stakeholders such as Engineering, asset, Finance, commercial, and Operations.
  • Provide advice and support to Programme and Delivery managers on developing initiative-led efficiency forecasts and management strategies.
  • Assess efficiency management across programmes and projects to identify gaps, overlaps, and conflicts and eliminate double counting in the efficiency plans of individual programmes and projects.
  • Hybrid – Clearwater Court/Maple Lodge/Hampton – 3 days a week will be office-based.
  • 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday; we are open to a job share option for this role and are willing to accept part-time and full-time applicants.
What you should bring to the role 
  • Strong knowledge of construction and engineering projects and programme delivery scales. 
  • Internal and external senior stakeholder management. 
  • Experienced in delivering real efficiency in a capital investment environment, with a drive for continual improvement.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering and construction, contract forms, and start-up work processes.
  • Ability to analyse data and make decisions based on partial information. Ability to present complex information in a way that people across the business can understand.

  • Competitive salary from £75,000 to £95,000 per annum.
  • This role will come with a car allowance of £5,800.
  • 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
