Location: Birmingham, B38 8QT

Salary: £48,159 to £52,632 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 37 hours per week

Head of Curriculum – The Role:

The Sixth Form are looking for an outstanding, innovative and inspirational experienced leader who will build upon the achievements and strengths of the College, and share their outstanding teaching knowledge to further raise the College’s standards and reputation.

Strong, proven leadership and management skills are essential as is a passion for success with a commitment to meeting the needs of stakeholders and the local and regional communities.

Excellent communication skills and high levels of energy and stamina will be required to motivate staff and students to share a common set of values and help develop a culture which encourages individuals to work effectively within teams to ensure that students perform at the highest levels.

 

Head of Curriculum – Key Responsibilities:

- Teaching own subject as appropriate

- Undertake quality assurance in conjunction with the College Leadership Team and Quality Department including but not limited to: lesson observations; review of student progress; curriculum development; syllabus changes

- Lead and manage a faculty, being responsible for appraisal management, staff absence management, cover, staff and student recruitment, student enrolment, curriculum planning, timetabling, parental engagement

- Data analysis of student achievement and subsequent planning for improvement including undertaking subject reviews

- To liaise with awarding bodies regarding quality and standards in conjunction with College Leadership Team

- To monitor compliance with college quality systems and support the central quality unit and College Leadership Team with compliance

- To act as a lead in developing training for staff across the college to enhance standards

- Giving IAG to support and advise students regarding attendance, retention, resit options, additional access arrangements

- To support the pastoral system

 

Head of Curriculum – You:

Qualifications:

- Degree in a relevant subject

- Relevant Teaching Qualification PGCE, Certificate in Education

- Management qualification

Experience & Skills:

- Recent demonstrable track record of outstanding teaching with evidence of high success rates, pass rates and added value in own subject

- Demonstrable track record of improving teaching and results or maintaining outstanding provision

- Experience of leading teams

- Experience of leading initiatives

- Experience of developing training for staff

- Experience of working with awarding bodies

- Experience as an examiner with awarding body

- Experience of teaching A Level or Level 3 Vocational course with a proven track record of passes and high grades achievement

- Proven track record of developing innovative teaching and learning techniques and adaptive teaching

- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Curriculum, changes to the curriculum landscape and the Ofsted framework

- Experience of taking an active role in the development of the quality improvement cycle
