Head Of Cyber Security

Your new role
A large government department are looking to recruit an experienced Head of Cyber Security with exceptional stakeholder engagement, management and reporting experience whose expertise lie within managing senior leaders and translating technical information into non-technical information.
You will work across Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) as a member of the technology leadership team and focus your support on championing Cyber Security across the Department. You will work directly with the Cyber Security management team who hold the responsibility for delivering the Cyber Security strategy and our strategic objective of being a leader of Cyber Security across government. You as the Head of Cyber Security will take the lead in communicating the key risks, challenges, opportunities and ensuring Cyber Security is at the heart of the Departments decision making to senior leaders at appropriate governance boards or the wider Department's user base during regular show and tells or reporting meetings.
You will support the whole organisation to utilise modern technology services which are secure but maintain the highest levels of accessibility. You will articulate, in easy-to-understand language, the value of Cyber Security and take a business outcome focused approach to embedding security across the whole organisation. You will work with stakeholders at all levels and oversee and mitigate the Cyber Security risk profile of the organisation.
What you\'ll need to succeed

• Be responsible for engaging with senior leaders to ensure that decisions are being made with Cyber Security in mind.
• Support the cyber team to deliver its responsibilities in line with the Government and Department's Cyber Security strategy.
• Work with the cyber management team to drive forward the capability and strategy of the cyber team.
• Work with the Digital, Data and Technology team (DDaT) and business colleagues to deliver services that meet the Digital by Default Service Standard and are best in class for government,
• Lead on maintaining and improving an effective assurance process for IT systems.
• Work with Knowledge Management and the information governance regime in DIT, in line with Government standards.
• Oversee and improve security training and awareness for DIT staff to use modern systems safely.
• Support the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) in understanding complex risks.
• Meeting the reporting and audit cycle - ARAC, GIAA, CTO, DDaT
