Job Description

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body.  We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces in Scotland and internationally.

SQA is changing how we think about, use and share our data. To lead this work for the data relating to our qualifications, assessments and wider services we are recruiting for a new Head of Data and Analytics in our Policy, Analysis & Standards Directorate.

The role will oversee and provide leadership to the Data and Analytics Team and SQA’s Official Statistics responsibilities under the Code of Practice for Statistics. It will support the Team in delivering high quality data analysis and reporting for users and ensure that the underpinning processes and outputs comply with statutory and legislative requirements and current best practice.

The role will also lead on provision of high-level statistical advice and guidance at a senior level within SQA and will assist with the use of Data to support resolution of complex problems and/or issues. Ideally you will also have experience of supporting new and ongoing data initiatives and of helping to build statistical capacity and capability within a Data and Analytics team and across an organization.

This role will require you to lead, manage and develop  a team to ensure optimum performance and to ensure agreed targets are met on time and within budget. You will also need to be able to demonstrate experience of developing, building and maintaining effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level to ensure effective service delivery and to foster partnership working.

Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 9 or have significant experience in a similar senior post. A strong track record in the field of Data and Analytics and statistics, working at a senior level would be expected. We would welcome interest from applicants who may consider the role as a secondment.

This role attracts a Market Supplement of £4000.The Market Supplement is a non-consolidated, non-pensionable sum that is liable for tax and NI payments.
