Your role will be to work with the Head of Finance Operations and take the lead in building out a data strategy that can be harnessed by the investment function to essentially make better investment decisions.
Your chief task initially will be to create a structure that standardises the use of Data and analytics in portfolio management decisions. Added to that, developing the effective delivery of MI regarding performance appraisal in the wake of these (predominantly private equity) investment decisions.
From there, you'll be building out a team with responsibility for all aspects of Data management to include data quality & governance, analytics, valuation, reporting, insights and any information that can help drive better business decisions.
With the implementation of a new portfolio management system currently in process another key aspect of your role will be to ensure the role of Data is central in the decisioning process and in how it syncs with this overall system.
Central to all of this is improving data analytics capabilities (and overall data governance) with the aim of levelling up areas such as investment performance reporting and enhancing the use of metrics that quantify economic impact.
- That is, not only improving the return on private equity investments but to just as importantly to ensure we know what impact we are having on Ireland Inc.
- Create, lead and develop a new team of Data specialists to be a high performing and an integral part of the investment fund.
- Centralise all investment and non-investment data, data governance & controls, analytics and all management information.
Lead the design of dashboards & tools for the streamlined production and analysis of management information to support decision making.
Implement an effective system for quality data collection from private equity investments to ensure efficient procedures for data analysis with a particular focus on ESG impact and Economic impact.
Requirements for this Role- Experience in delivering best in class analytics and reporting capabilities to meet various business needs.
- Previous implementation of best practice in data quality processes across the key dimensions of Data quality (including data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity and uniqueness).
- Adequate knowledge of the various stages of the data management lifecycle, including data collection/creation, storage, processing, usage, sharing, analysis, visualisation, and data destruction.
- Knowledge & experience of Microsoft Power Platform (including Power BI) or other market leading analytics tools would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Data modelling, databases and experience in the extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) of Data.
An interest in the investment industry & in developing your knowledge in that area will of course also be important.
Equally valuable will be a keen awareness of the need to harness data points from both qualitative and quantitative sources and marrying those elements to paint the most complete picture.
Ultimately success in this role will come from an innate understanding that effective investment is underpinned by good data - and in this sense your role will be pivotal.
