Job description

The Head of Data Management is a senior strategic role in the Technology and Operations department. The candidate is expected to define, implement, and manage the transition to a new Data Management solution for the Cornmarket business.

Collaborating with IT and business teams to implement a scalable cloud-based Data Management infrastructure that seamlessly connects client, operational and analytical data to our modern technology landscape while reducing dependency on the legacy data solutions.

The requirement is for an experienced professional who can drive change through leadership and collaboration across the organisation while taking responsibility for the successful delivery of strategic objectives.

Accountabilities of the Role

  • Reporting to the Director of Technology & Operations & working closely with the Technology, PMO & Operations teams.

  • Build and own the Cornmarket Data Management Strategy and transition to the new target solutions.

  • Lead the implementation of the strategic Data Management solution for the next phase of the technology modernisation strategy. Build collaborative implementation plans with all stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

  • Lead the selection of 3rd party solutions and service providers and collaborate with the teams across Great West LifeCo and Irish Life groups.

  • Manage the budget and costs associated with the spend on the Data Management Programme in collaboration with the Finance function.

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, presenting insights, opportunities and recommendations derived from data analysis while driving adoption of new solutions across the organisation.

  • Establish and enforce robust data governance policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Minimum of 3rd level degree in technology or related technical discipline and advanced qualification(eg. Masters) in a relevant field (e.g. data science, data analytics, business analytics).

  • A minimum of 10 - 15 years' experience in Financial Services with at least 5 years in a senior role directly related to Data Management and technology transformation within the financial services industry. Preference for experience leading complex Data Management solution design, implementation, integration, and technical delivery .

  • Strong leadership and team management skills along with an analytical mindset with an ability to connect and build trust with people.

  • Ability to think strategically and see the big picture and focus on achieving our client's and our organisation's objectives.

  • Expertise in data architecture, solution design and implementation

  • An ability to work collaboratively and engage effectively while building positive relationships with corporate stakeholders and Third-Party service providers.

  • A key understanding of the importance of the finance, governance, oversight, and compliance regulations when bringing new solutions into the organisation.

  • Understanding and appreciation of the changing financial governance landscape and ensuring solutions are in line with regulatory expectations.

  • Experience in leading Data Management, integration and business intelligence technologies is essential and willingness to explore advances in data, AI and ML learning and applicability to the Cornmarket strategy.
