Permanent Contract

£57,553 - £63,723 – per annum

37 hours per week

Are you ready to shape the future? We are seeking a visionary leader to join us as the Head of Development Management at Teignbridge District Council.

Leading a team of dedicated professionals and working collaboratively with key partners, you will help to drive forward and implement the Council’s Local Plan priorities. This influential role is key to realising the Council’s ambitions for green, sustainable growth of our communities by enabling the delivery of homes, jobs, and infrastructure, balanced alongside protection of our most valued natural resources and built heritage.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Council has strong performance against national indicators for processing planning applications and appeals.

The ideal candidate:

• Has a strong vision on place making and the role of Planning in delivering this
• Will have a proven track record of leading positive change and managing performance
• Has great leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and coach members of their Team.
• Will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to adapt to any given audience.
• Enjoys solving problems. You love taking on difficult challenges and finding creative solutions.
• Will be self-motivated and aspire to make a difference.
• Won’t get flustered easily. If you don’t know the answer, you’ll dig until you find it.
• Will pay attention to details. As far as you’re concerned, anything worth doing is worth doing right, every single time. You stay focused and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
