Job description

Join a renowned multidisciplinary consultancy, seeking an experience Ecologist to join and develop a brand-new in-house Ecology function. You would be the first in the door for the Ecology team, and therefore have the opportunity to immediately grow your own team of Ecologists throughout the UK, as well as use of the existing contractor supply chain.

The Role:

* Grow and lead a brand-new Ecology department to support various in-house teams on EIA projects across then UK.
* Act as the face of the Ecology team, creating and managing client relationships both on and off site.
* Manage Ecology team across variety of projects, with an increasing focus on Biodiversity Net gain procedures throughout the construction industry.
* Design and direct the completion of site surveys, ecological impact assessments, in addition to ecological mitigation design and implementation.
* Mentorship of junior and consultant ecologists
* Management of extensive contractor network across the UK
* Provide expertise on design and development proposals, including appropriate site location and construction methodologies.

Qualifications / Requirements:

* Experience managing Ecology team is essential.
* Full membership of CIEEM desirable.
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
* Established Ecological Consultant with extensive project management experience and previous experience within a consultancy.
* Experience in developing good client relationships to secure repeat business and gain new clients.
* Experience within bat or other protected species (ornithological or botanical) is essential.
* Ability to plan and undertake habitat surveys and to identify indicator plant species and habitat types.
* Full knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation and best practice survey techniques.
