Job summary The Head ofEducation and Student Experience Strategy Projects will be responsible for providing overarching support to the Director of the Education Office and Head of Strategic Projects, the Vice Provost (Education and Student Experience) and Director of Academic Services in the implementation of the College’s priorities relating to Education and the wider Student Experience. This will include management and oversight of multiple projects and workstreams which form part of the College’s Learning and Teaching Strategy, Imperial Experience academic strategy project, other initiatives within the Education and Student Experience sphere as well as emergent activities. The role encompasses supporting members of staff from across the College who will be leading these initiatives, management of an annual budget of c.£3M, maintaining a close working relationships with the students’ union, leading a medium sized team and having oversight of key education governance processes. The role holder will be heavily involved in stakeholder engagement, working with every academic department and numerous College services and therefore will need the ability to establish and develop strong working relationships with senior professional and academic staff across the College. You will be key to delivering and aligning ambitious programmes to implement the College’s vision, aims and priorities for Education and the Student Experience. Duties and responsibilities You will be managing the overall implementation of the initiatives within the College’s Learning and Teaching Strategy and Imperial Experience academic strategy project and other related initiatives and activities. You will be managing the overall process of coordinating other relevant Education and Student Experience-related activity and initiatives, ensuring the strategic alignment of existing central and local projects with the Learning and Teaching Strategy, Imperial Experience academic strategy project and/or other related initiatives. You will be working with the Vice-Provost (Education and Student Experience) and Director of the Education Office and Head of Strategic Projects to contribute to development of the College’s strategic priorities for Education and the Student Experience, leading oversight groups as appropriate. You will be ensuring that learning, teaching, and Student voices are represented throughout the development of strategies, initiatives, and projects related to Education and the Student Experience. Essential requirements An undergraduate bachelors (FHEQ Level 6) degree with honours ideally in a subject area taught by the College, or equivalent experience. Experience of working within higher education, with a sound knowledge and understanding of the Student Experience and the academic environment. Proven management experience of mid-sized teams with an ability to lead and motivate staff. Experience of managing significantly sized projects in a higher education environment working with governance functions and a range of stakeholders Experience of working with representatives of a student community to understand their feedback and needs Understanding of the wider (non-educational) Student Experience aspects of higher education Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, with use of initiative and a positive approach to identify key issues, and manage own and team’s workload First rate analytical skills, with the proven ability to understand, interpret and explain complicated data and identify issues of data quality Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels of seniority Further information Should you require any further details please contact: Dr Phil Power -power@imperial.ac.uk
