Job Title:Head of Engineering

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £65,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

University College Birmingham works in partnership with the University of Warwick - Ranked eighth in the 2023 Guardian League Tables and 10th in the UK in the QS World University rankings 2023.

The Role:

University College Birmingham are looking for an exceptional candidate to support in leading the School of Engineering, Digital and Sustainable Construction and assist the curriculum delivery team to develop and deliver curriculum to meet industry partner's needs.

This is an exciting time to join the team at University College Birmingham as we develop our partnership with University of Warwick.

You will be the face of UCB Engineering, leading on the student recruitment and enrolment process, collaborating with heads of department in our construction and digital curriculum areas and ensuring our students have the most fantastic student experience that will afford them the greatest life chances and offer a clear line of sight to degree level outcomes.

Our Engineering department opened in September 2022 and we have over 200 Further Education Students studying with us this year. We are developing our Higher Education curriculum which has recently been launched with an MSc and will be followed with a new BEng and HNCs for September 2024. We will also be looking at developing apprenticeships to support employers and a strong skill led adult offer.

You will lead a team of lecturers and senior lecturers and work with our capital projects lead to ensure our newly created facilities are at the centre of the student experience in what can only be described as world class investment, ensuring that our students are completely work ready and can springboard into high value careers when they leave us.

We have recently invested over £2 million pound in labs and industry standard equipment such as hydraulic, pneumatics, PLC trainers, an Industry 4.0 production line, robots and cyber factory alongside state-of-the-art materials labs and testing equipment. Our PC suites have been developed with the latest industry software.
