The Head of Scottish Power Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) helps Scottish Power achieve its strategic goals by ensuring that material risks are identified, reported, and managed across Scottish Power in a timely and appropriate manner. This includes recognising the interconnectedness of risks; ensuring transparent and risk-based decision making. The Head of ERM will be responsible for the effective implementation of the Iberdrola global ERM framework and the design and implementation of any required Scottish Power/UK adaptations. 

 

What you'll be doing 

Contribute to the development of the global Iberdrola Enterprise Risk Management framework, ensuring that any UK/Scottish Power required adaptations (e.g. for UK regulations, corporate governance requirements) are identified, designed and formalised. 

 

Establish an effective risk-based Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework in ScottishPower to identify, measure, monitor, and control enterprise-wide risks. 

 

Implement effective coordination mechanisms with second line specialist functions and business risk and assurance experts to ensure that a common methodology is used when assessing the effectiveness of Risk Management and control across ScottishPower.  

 

Develop and maintain an independent view of the effectiveness and maturity of frameworks used by second line specialist functions.    

 

Partner with those responsible for risk reporting in business units and corporate functions to ensure that risk reporting methodology is effectively and consistently implemented across ScottishPower. 

 

Prepare all required ScottishPower ERM risk reporting for the ScottishPower & Iberdrola management and committees, ensuring that it is complete, consistent, and accurate. This includes the ScottishPower Audit & Compliance Committee, ScottishPower Risk Committee and ScottishPower input to the Iberdrola Risk Reporting for the Iberdrola Audit & Risk Supervision Committee, the Iberdrola Group Risk Committee and Senior Iberdrola Directors. 

 

Ensure that all material risks (Hot Topics and structural) are identified, assessed, and escalated or reported as required. Ensure that interrelated risks are aggregated and linked where appropriate 

 

Promote a culture of risk-based management in ScottishPower by coordinating Risk Management training and awareness across ScottishPower. (Includes: identifying people to be trained, tracking attendance, monitoring effectiveness etc) 

 

Provide expert support and guidance to ScottishPower senior management and risk and assurance subject matter experts on Enterprise Risk Management. 

 

What you'll bring 

 

  • Specialised knowledge of Enterprise-wide Risk Management. 

  • Ability to manage a wide and diverse number of senior stakeholders 

  • Excellent organisational skills including the ability to operate independently 

  • Self-motivated and detail orientated, able to work under time pressure, independently and within a team 

  • Strong ability to think independently, take initiative and facilitate co-operation 

  • Ability to synthesize and understand quickly, being able to express complex ideas in a simple and understandable way 

  • Proven ability to challenge senior management when required  

  • Interdepartmental communication skills with proven ability to influence and negotiate where required  

  • Expert understanding of Risk Management internal control and governance 

  • Strong Commercial awareness and understanding of the ScottishPower business within the context of the wider Iberdrola group, including the main risks faced, key projects. 

  • Appropriate experience in a management/leadership role. 

  • High degree of professional integrity 

  • Educated to degree level.
