Job description
As a trusted government partner, we work on a huge range of projects, and help protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We keep complex developments on track, and on budget. And a whole lot more besides. Now we’re looking for a highly committed professional to inspire, motivate and lead our Engineering and Operations Performance Management Unit.
Lead a team that’s vital to the operational delivery of the organisation.
In this critical role you’ll be the Head of a dynamic and collaborative 2-person team that provides all the management information required by our Engineering and Operations directorate. You’ll build on the existing performance and risk management frameworks as you lead future development, aligned with corporate strategies and priorities, and in addition will ensure that the Directorate is compliant with all governance requirements, including but not limited to Business Continuity, Information Asset Management and Risk. You will provide the data and information that underpins effective business decisions made by our Director, Senior Leadership Team and other stakeholders.
Striving for excellence
You’ll have a wide range of additional responsibilities as you help to improve our processes – these include embedding a culture of evidence-based, data-led decision making throughout Engineering and Operations and the achievement of ISO 9001 accreditation where appropriate. Leading the development of the latest methods for the distribution and use of Performance Management information, you’ll also take responsibility for identifying the processes by which data is captured and presented. Another key task will involve the design of a relevant feedback mechanism, one that ensures stakeholder engagement and assures the benefits of KPIs.
Use your management and analytical skills to make a real difference.
With a collaborative approach to your work, you’ll be an analytical and data-driven leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your superb relationship and line management abilities will make you an inspirational coach and mentor to your junior colleagues, and you’ll also be a motivating team manager. Capable of explaining complex information clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences, and ready to influence and create positive change through data-led analysis, you’ll be committed to driving efficiency and continuous improvements.
Grow your career in the biggest way possible
When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas – but how will we help you in return? As well as a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service pension, we’ll also support your development with training opportunities to help you advance your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a superb package of benefits as you help to increase the effectiveness and security of our cyber systems.
If you’re successful with your application, you’ll need to achieve Developed Vetting security clearance. This process can take some time, but the result – an exciting and fulfilling career with FCDO Services – means that it’s well worth the wait.
