JOB TITLE: Head of High Value Giving

BASE: Hybrid 

DEPARTMENT: Income & Engagement

REPORTING TO: Director Income & Engagement

WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week

Overall purpose of the role:

To review and implement a High Value & Corporate Fundraising Strategy that supports the Charity’s ambition over the next 5 years. Responsible for Trusts and Foundations, Corporate Partnerships and Major Gift Income, the successful candidate must have a proven track record in directly delivering six figure donations, and must have direct experience of developing a strong pipeline of prospective donors across all High Value Income streams to support the Charity’s strategy of delivering sustainable income. The successful candidate will lead the HVG & Corporate team to achieve significant income growth which has been identified for the Charity. Your expertise will develop high-value relationships and partnerships enabling the Charity to secure more varied and multifaceted support from High Net Worth Individuals and Corporate Partnerships.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a High Value Giving & Corporate Income growth strategy for NWAA Charity. Leading the team to generate restricted and unrestricted income to enable the Charity to achieve its strategic aims with particular focus on securing support from donors with the capacity to give £100k+. This will include working closely with teams across the Charity to understand the priorities requiring funding.
  • Deliver a budgeted annual income (23/24) from Corporate partnerships (£400k), Major Gifts (£258k), Trusts & Foundations (£198k). You will have budgetary responsibility for this income stream, setting multi-year and expenditure projections and regular forecasts. You will also set and deliver monthly KPIs for team performance, outputs and achievements.
  • You will motivate your team with clear vision and objectives, effective processes, and an ambitious and productive team culture.
  • You will take the lead on the Charity’s most significant relationships and partnerships delivering excellence in donor stewardship.
  • Work with the wider Heads of Departments to drive a culture of collaboration to achieve the Charity’s shared strategic goals around excellent supporter experience, maximising life-time value of all audiences, living values and brand and achieving sustainable income growth. You will represent all of Fundraising withing the wider Charity so it will be critical to have an understanding of the audiences, drivers and needs of all Fundraising functions.
  • Lead on the cultivating of High Value relationships and partnerships, driving new business across the team. Working closely with the Charity Ambassadors, maximising potential and recruit to the programme.
  • Identify and define potential future high income giving activities, targeting appropriate high net worth individuals in an engaging and persuasive manner, ensuring a balanced High Value portfolio and pipeline to maintain sustainable fundraising growth.
  • Define the High Value Giving budget parameters, ensuring they are realistic but stretching and deliver against them, providing the Director of Income Generation & Engagement with regular updates regarding the financial performance and forecasts of the department and its key avenues for fundraising.
  • Provide the High Value Giving team with the leadership and development they need, ensuring they have clear performance objectives and personal development plans, enabling them to deliver to high standards and hit their income targets, and that any issues of poor performance are managed appropriately.
  • Be an ambassador for NWAA Charity, collaborating with other members of the Income Generation & Engagement department to ensure that opportunities to promote High Value fundraising are developed through other appropriate channels and a strong external presence in the media is sustained.
  • Ensure and police the team to utilise the Charity’s database. Ensure all supporter information records are up to date and in line with Data Protection legislation and work closely with Head of Supporter Insight & Data Analysis in doing so.
  • Engagement with regular progress reports including delivery of key performance indicators as required.

Qualifications

Desirable 

  • Institute of Fundraising Membership
  • Recognized fundraising, marketing or business development qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of successfully developing and delivering strategic partnerships
  • Extensive Corporate Partnerships experience within a regional and national charity with similar income targets to North West Air Ambulance Charity.
  • Direct experience of philanthropy fundraising is essential.
  • Experience empowering Corporate Partnerships teams to work at pace to deliver income targets and build long-term meaningful relationships with businesses. This should include proven success setting effective processes and KPIs to drive performance.
  • Experience building strategies for Corporate Partnerships fundraising. Plus, a proven ability to think on a long-term strategic level and to achieve long-term sustainable income growth
  • Experience optimising CRM databases for pipeline and relationship management.
  • Proven success developing complex restricted fundraising bids and strategic partnerships that have secured six figure multi-year investment from companies and corporate foundations.
  • Proven success securing and delivering large national Charity of the Year and brand/cause related marketing partnerships with household brand and products.
  • Proven outstanding donor-facing and relationship management skills including demonstrable ability to lead complex negotiations between charity and funder.
  • Excellent knowledge of their funding landscape.
  • Solid experience managing team budgets (income and expenditure) including multi-year forecasting, quarterly reforecasting, accurate and realistic income phasing.
  • Developing sustainable growth of a pipeline either in a sales, marketing or fundraising environment

Desirable 

  • Outstanding working knowledge of Corporate Partnerships compliance and legal matters - including due diligence, contract negotiation, solicitation statements and the application of VAT to commercial participator agreements and contracts for services.
  • Knowledge of charity law in the UK.
