Job description

Fairfield School of Business (FSB), an OFS registered private higher education provider founded in 2006 with campuses in London, Birmingham, Leicester and Luton. We provide industry-relevant qualifications in business and healthcare management, in partnership with leading UK universities. Our focus is to offer an open and inclusive learning and teaching environment for both students and staff. We are also committed to providing access to higher education to those who may not have formal qualifications, financial means or can commit to the schedule of a mainstream university. We are looking for an innovative and experienced professional to fill the role of Head of Learning, Skills, and Employability at our higher education institution. This position is critical to our commitment to providing high-quality education and ensuring the success and Employability of our older learners. The selected applicant will be in charge of monitoring academic content, resources, assignments, course leaders, and student results, with an emphasis on developing employability skills. Key Responsibilities: Academic Content and Materials: Develop and oversee the implementation of academic content, ensuring alignment with HE industry standards and best practices. Regularly review course materials to meet the evolving needs of mature learners in the Higher Education sector. Closely working with the programme leaders and supporting them with academic decisions. Monitor skills workshops across the campuses. Course Leaders Oversight: Provide leadership and guidance to course leaders, fostering a collaborative and innovative teaching environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and professional development opportunities for course leaders. Lead the regular meetings and share good practices. Monitor feedback quality and meet submissions, marking deadlines. Student Performance and Outcomes: Monitor and analyse student results, performance, and outcomes to identify areas for improvement and success. Collaborate with academic staff to implement strategies for enhancing student learning experiences and achievements. Make sure that the campuses are achieving the benchmarks of students’ academic performance (Continuation, completion etc). Student Satisfaction: Oversee and monitor the development and implementation of strategies to enhance student satisfaction, ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment across the school. Address and resolve issues related to student satisfaction, working closely with relevant departments and senior management. Monitor students’ mid-term and other surveys/ student voices across the campuses. Employability Initiatives: Develop and implement strategies to enhance the employability of mature learners, aligning with industry demands during and after the studies. Foster relationships with employers and industry partners to create opportunities for placements, and career development in the local communities and not only. Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans for the department, aligning with the overall goals of the school. Identify trends and innovations in Higher Education to enhance the school’s position as a leader in providing education to mature learners. Qualifications and Experience: A Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field. Working experience in HE sectors Proven experience in academic leadership roles within the Higher Education sector. PGCE in HE or HE Fellowship Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies to enhance student outcomes and Employability. Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
