Job description

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity and the chance to work for one of the leading conservation charities in Cornwall?

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader with high-level advocacy and facilitation skills to drive the delivery of the marine and coastal elements of our 2030 strategy. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an innovative, capable, and passionate individual who understands the intricate relationship between nature and people. You will need to inspire politicians, funders, the media, developers, and communities.

As Head of Marine Conservation, you will lead our ambitious efforts to address the current climate and nature crisis at sea. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional organisational and resourcefulness skills, possess great attention to detail, and exhibit confidence in public speaking. Your passion for our cause must shine through these skills.

You will be a crucial part of our team, collaborating effectively and facilitating collective efforts to achieve our new and exciting vision. We are looking for someone who has experience working constructively with fishing and other commercial interests and is prepared to engage in robust discussions about reversing marine biodiversity loss.

Knowledge of Cornwall and the UK’s marine environment, the marine planning system, and marine protected areas is essential. Additionally, you should have experience in outreach and advocacy that has successfully mobilised public and decision-maker support for restoring our marine environment.

What we offer:

  • Cornwall Wildlife Trust operates excellent TOIL and flexible working policies.
  • Enhanced company holiday entitlement – starting at 25 days plus bank holidays and rising to a maximum 30 days over a period of time (1 day extra for each year worked after 4 complete years served)
  • Annual 3-day business closure between Christmas and New Year
  • All employees have access to the Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 counselling service) and Employee health and wellbeing portal
  • Free onsite parking at Five Acres and King Edward Mine sites
  • Cycle to Work (salary sacrifice) Scheme
  • Stakeholder pension scheme

Contract: This is a permanent, full time (37.5 hours a week) role.

Location: Based at our Headquarters in Allet, you’ll form part of our Senior Leadership Team. We are supportive of hybrid working.

The closing date for applications is midnight on the 18 July 2024.

We have held 24th and 25th July for first round interviews. However, we will aim to be flexible for shortlisted candidates if required due to summer holidays.
