HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

The Head of Market Data will directly report to the Global Head of Vendor Management. The team aims to excel in managing third-party relationships. The role entails overseeing all Market Data activities to ensure cost-efficient Market Data services for Asset Management. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of various buy-side Market Data engagements, such as data licensing, index licensing, and passive and active funds. Responsibilities include managing Market Data spending, monitoring compliance with third-party terms, identifying deviations from plans, and generating monthly reports.

In this role you will:

• Collaborate closely with Group Market Data services to meet business needs by renewing contracts in a timely manner, with optimal terms for Asset Management.
• Continuously assess global Market Data expenditures for cost-saving opportunities and oversee maintenance tasks to promptly discontinue unused or unnecessary services.
• Play a proactive part in reducing data management costs, focusing on Bloomberg data and indices.
• Generate monthly Market Data reports at country, business line, and cost code levels as needed.
• Serve as the primary contact for all Market Data enquiries and cultivate strong partnerships with external third-party data providers.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• A comprehensive understanding of Buy-side market data services is vital for this position.
• Knowledge of services offered by key data providers such as Bloomberg, LSEG, FTSE, MSCI, and Rating Agencies is essential.
• Familiarity with licensing prerequisites for fund ranges, particularly passive products like ETFs, ICAV, and OEICs.
• Proficiency in cultivating relationships with a proven history of interacting and negotiating with market data providers.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This is a hybrid working role with the base location as Birmingham.
