Osteoporosis is the fourth highest cause of disability and premature death in the UK. Safe, effective medications can prevent fractures, but currently two-thirds of the people who need them are missing out. That’s why we urgently need to raise awareness and change the narrative on bone health in the UK.
The Royal Osteoporosis Society is in a period of exciting growth and development. We’ve successfully re-orientated the charity as a key influencer on the national stage, cultivating a higher profile than at any time in our history. Bold, agenda-setting communications and marketing work has been a key engine of our strategy. Despite our progress, at present we’re reaching a minority of the 3.5m people with osteoporosis. We want to strengthen further our marketing and communications strategy to reach and engage more people, so we can achieve impact at scale. As a key member of our Leadership team, this senior role will be at the centre of that effort, working closely with income generation and service delivery colleagues to shape new products which will change and save lives.
Reporting to the Director of Income & Engagement, our new Head of Marketing and Communications will lead and develop further a high-performing team in the delivery of great quality, high-impact marketing, brand work and communications that deeply engage our supporters and service users.
- Do you have significant experience at a senior level in a marketing communication role?
- Do you have a record of leading highly-effective, innovative marketing and communications campaigns that have demonstrably increased engagement and/or income?
- Are you an inspiring manager, with the ability to develop and lead a high performing team?
If this is you, and you’re looking to join a fantastic organisation and team where you can really make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Location - Our preference is to offer this role on a hybrid basis (enabling you to work remotely from our office base in central Bath, with the expectation to attend the office in normal circumstances, at least 20% of your time each month), but we will also consider applications from candidates who wish to work remotely dependant on geographic location.
You`ll be joining a committed, highly engaged workforce, as shown by our 92% employee engagement rating, which puts us comfortably in the top 20% of charities and we want to attract the brightest and the best to help us beat this condition and change society for the better.
To apply, applicants should provide a comprehensive CV, including details of relevant experience and achievements. This should be supplemented by a supporting statement, demonstrating how your skills and experience meet the person specification.
Closing Date: The closing date is midnight on Tuesday 9 April 2024.
We particularly welcome qualified applicants from ethnic minorities as they are under-represented in the team.
