Procurement Heads' Industrial team is exclusively working with a well-respected and iconic luxury vehicle manufacturer looking for a Head of Materials Planning.

You will have the opportunity to make a highly visible and important impact on the success of the Materials Planning for this luxury manufacturer. With approximately £40million spend across c1000 parts.
We are looking for someone to implement best practice processes, to identify and resolve issues, to align processes and ultimately to ensure materials are ordered and arrive in the business in line with production plans.
The perfect individual for this role would thrive under challenge, bringing high energy, a positive attitude, and strong influencing skills to the team. You should excel at maintaining focus on priorities, ensuring the team stays on track, and consistently delivering to deadlines.
  
As Head of Materials Planning, you will be responsible for;

  • Own and be accountable for ordering, scheduling and on time materials delivery to the production line
  • Lead the supply of parts from approx. 160 active suppliers.
  • Lead a team of up to 20 (Planners, Expeditors, Goods In), guiding them to achieve measurable success
  • Be a hands-on doer, leading from the front
  • Introduce relevant PO processes across the supplier suite according to predefined commercial conditions
  • Enhance the planning and expediting processes to ensure scheduled orders are delivered on time and in full
  • Develop processes and templates to support regular supplier reviews and order book reviews
  • Maintain a schedule of order book reviews, monitored by an activity tracker
  • Build on, and strengthen where needed, existing relationships with the supplier base
  • Identify and communicate supply risks to the wider supply chain team and production

Core Relationships:

  • Work closely with the internal customer- ‘Production’. Represent Supply Chain in the daily Production Progress meetings
  • Work with Procurement for the expediting of New Product/Prototype parts
  • Work with the Commissioning team for the expediting of Post Manufactured parts
  • Work with Vendors, Accounts Payable, Procurement to solve invoicing issues or advise if amendments required to credit terms
  • Visit suppliers when necessary to carry out reviews and ensure exceptional working partnerships

  
Skills and Experience

  • Experience materials management / fulfilment in a manufacturing environment
  • At least 7 years in similar roles, able to demonstrate change management or Materials Planning improvements
  • Ideal if with experience of logistics and/or warehouse management and/or procurement
  • Low volume, high complexity manufacturing or project based manufacturing
  • Small – medium sized business experience
  • Managing a team

   
Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary £70- c£80,000 DOE
