Head of Maths

• Location: Campus-based with inter-campus travel required
• Job Type: Full-time, Management Contract
• Salary: £45,562.00 to per annum (pro rata for fractional posts) plus Industry Sector Payment £3,000.00 available

We are seeking a Head of Maths who will be instrumental in delivering excellent student success by fostering high-quality teaching and learning every day. The role involves leading curriculum design, learning innovation, and tracking and monitoring student progress. The successful candidate will develop a Maths provision that meets the needs of students, employers, and stakeholders, both now and in the future, and will lead and develop a high-performing team of staff.

Day to Day of the role:

• Lead the design and implementation of Maths provision across the college.
• Collaborate in planning and developing Maths programmes of study that meet individual students’ needs and progression aims.
• Facilitate cross-college collaboration to maximise student success.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team of Maths teachers, encouraging continual innovation in teaching practices.
• Implement quality assurance processes for the Maths curriculum to ensure compliance with Awarding Organisations and regulatory bodies.
• Monitor and support students at risk of underperforming in Maths, ensuring effective interventions are in place.
• Engage with student feedback regarding Maths delivery and skills development, responding to enhance the quality of provision.
• Regularly review the effectiveness of the provision, driving quality improvements as identified in quality improvement plans.
• Lead with expertise, engaging in professional development and sector-relevant projects and networks.
• Promote good practice in Maths teaching and learning and contribute to staff development across the college.
• Oversee budgets and ensure efficient utilisation of resources.
• Manage the recruitment, development, and performance management of Maths teaching staff in line with college policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven leadership and management experience within an educational setting, specifically in Maths.
• Strong track record in curriculum design and learning innovation.
• Experience in quality assurance and compliance with educational standards and regulations.
• Ability to lead a team to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Understanding of college policies including Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, and Child Protection.
